Of course I know good books!
As a librarian I'd reccomend:

Books by Karen Cushman
They are medieval historical, focusing on young women in that time. Very interesting!
-the midwife's apprentice
-Catharine called Birdy
-Mathilda Bone

Books by Stephenie Meyer
Vampire fiction. A chick in Washington meets a vampire family. Very romantic, not too gorey.
-New Moon
-Eclipse
-Twilight

The Confessions of Georgia Nicholson by Louise Rennison
-Angus, thongs, and full frontal snogging is the first. They are a series of diaries by a british girl. They are absolutely hillarious, and full of british cursewords, which I find very amusing.

Meg Cabot
The Tales of the Mediator
American Girl
(the princess diaries are more common, but less worth reading in my opinion)

In the Vampire/Romance genre, I would highly recommend the Twilight series, by Stephenie Meyer. These books do not contain much action but they are immensely suspenseful and would keep a person's eyes glued to the pages. A person would finish the books in little time despite the large amount of pages they include.

Scott Westerfeld's Uglies Trilogy is very much full of action. These books take place in the future, and they might be a little hard to understand at first. However, as time progresses, the story will become more understandable. It is a very good series for those who like action, Sci-fi, and romance.

Books by Meg Cabot are also quite good. Some of her books are the Princess Diaries series, the Mediator series, All-American Girl, and others. Many of her books target young-adults.

Laurie Faria Stolarz's Blue is for Nightmares series is also very interesting. One of my favorite series, if you will. They include action, magic, romance, and quite a lot of suspense. They're very good, in my opinion.

Sarah Dessen's books also target young-adults, some containing mature content. These books do not have much action but would be more on the drama side. They teach lessons to girls and girls can actually compare themselves to the girls in these books.
