There is a HUGE difference between having a pistol permit to OWN a gun (only taking it out for use at a firing-range, or to protect yourself and your family at home), and having a permit to CARRY a gun. The laws in NYS are pretty strict about who can own a gun, much less carry them. You have to pay a large fee ($100+) to get fingerprinted and they perform an extensive background check on you...and this is only the OWN a gun. Most people that have a permit to carry are either police officers, transport C.O.s, and other officials (some military as well). Other than that, most people that you see carrying a concealed weapon who are just "Average Joes" like you and me...are doing so illegally.
Its worth mentioning, also, that the gun control laws are even MORE strict in NYC. If you want to carry a gun..you have to go through the motions just like the rest of us..or else you face huge fines/imprisonment if you're caught. Owning/carrying a gun is a privilege..not a right. (at least in NY..legally speaking......now FLORIDA on the other hand...don't even get me started lol).

I say yes, but the law has not sided with us yet, so far our freedom is a priveledge that must be permitted and licensed by the state.
But as a citizen of the United States Constitution, these states, cities, and municipalities should not be allowed to abridge our right.
This is going to go on for a while this debate, but as far as I can read and see the intentions of the Founding Fathers agreeing to the concerns of citizens for specific rights and by the ratification of the Bill of Rights, then yeah! I am pro-2nd amendment all the way.
In fact it should have been the very first thing that was mentioned rather than the second, in the Bill of Rights. For without the second amendment, we can damn sure bet that there would be no rights to the first.
They conquer us by division, and fear mongering. But stay locked and loaded my friend.

NYC is horrible in restricting 2nd Amendment (and 9th Amendment) freedoms, and the city is essentially its own little police state.
