Good question! As displayed with his match with Tayuya, Shikamaru's very strategic and thinks 5 steps ahead. Although L does the same thing - like when him and Light were having that tennis match, both were thinking so many steps ahead of the other.
Even though Shikamaru is immensely smart, L would give him a run for his money. Heck, Shikamaru might just leave because he'd be creeped out by the way L looks, sits and the sugar he eats XD -- Lol, who knows, Shikamaru's had his fair share of weird people though =P

I think Shikamaru,he has a good sense of strategy and game plan and can think on the spot.

but L is like a genious... so L would probably win. no, he would most likely win.
