Good question. When I was in high school, I promised my friends that I would not settle when I got married. I always hung out with guys and they always looked out for me. It always sucked because they looked at me like I was their sister. Anyway, when it came time for me to get married, I decided that I just wanted to settle down and be with someone the rest of my life. My husband doesn't match the criteria for which I had in mind when I thought about my dream guy. He is not as good of a Christian as I had hoped. He isn't willing to have as many kids as I wanted my dream guy to want. He doesn't make as much money as I had imagined. But even with all of these things that I have settled on, I am so glad that I did! He is more thoughtful and understanding than any "dream guy" could possibly be. So I think you can settle, but if you are as lucky as I am, you end up getting more than you expected!

Way back in the day, I did, I felt I needed to have someone in my life, but I'm a little older, and, allot wiser now. I think some people "hold on" just to keep from being alone, and I"d rather be alone than be in an unloving relationship. I've got good friends and family, and...IF, I ever find true love, it will serve as the "frosting on my cake".

if you settle to have love i don't believe it is love. i think then it is comfort and companionship. that situation could of course grow into love. comfort and companionship is not a bad thing. you can really get to know someone but you can't pretend to love the person just to fulfill your needs. don't say i love you if you don't mean it.

No... I wouldn't settle for anything mediocre just to "have" it.
