I think global warming is an important issue. The USA heavily pollutes. Regardless, we have the opportunity to make our country one of the greenest countries in the world. Lots of "green jobs" could be created and we could set an example for other countries. We are more like China and Russia in terms of our pollution policies. It does not have to be this way. Do any presidential candidates think this way?

It is not anything that man did to cause the climate changes and there is nothing man can do to change anything..it is a natural cycle set in motion and it will continue as it always has,,,with or without man's interference....so you can take them stupid blue, cold, light bulbs and shove them where the sun don't shine....I hate them and I am going down to Home Depot and buy up every pretty little yellow glowey bulb they have when they start phasing them out.

The national weather service records indicate the earths average temp has risen less than 1 degree F over the last 100 years. The temperature has fluctuated over time and will continue to do so regardless of our current actions.
Global warming has raised awareness and being concerned is a good thing. To make everyone think that it has more of an effect on us than it actually does is wrong. Reduce greenhouse gasses and reduce pollution overall, good things to do but the world will not end any time soon regardless of our actions.

I agree 10,000% that Global Warming is one of the highest importance issues around right now.

The reason is that it will determine whether we destroy freedom and make a few powerful men very rich and the rest into controlled vassals, or continue our American Way of freedom and development and what made our country great. It will show us if we believe the proven lies of extremely rich and greedy for power people, or believe in equality and opportunity for all.

It decides if we fall back into a dark ages, ala Orwell's 1984, or move ahead to greater freedoms in a world of opportunity. It will show if we read History about how times of global warming were great times of plenty and advancement and global cooling times were times of poverty and oppression and disease, or we ignore history and have to be taught the lesson by Nature all over again.

Hey, you can shut your ears and blind your eyes, or you can ask, for example, if that forest in Greenland had time to grow so big and it was warmer then than now since the ice was all clear, how DID the polar Bears and Walrus, and penguins, survive, with no Goreans to watch over them and spend our money "saving" them by making it too cold for us again? Or did evolution make them in just 6000 years?

You need to know real science, and read History, and science, and politics, and also read Orwell's "1984" etc. Then think!

And listen when Al Gore's Terror film is shown in court to be mostly a lot of lies and unsupportable claims. Not even supportable from a LEGAL standpoint, let alone scientific.

What we are looking at is a rule by a small but dedicated Consensus. An unelected Oligarchy. Who want to ride roughshod over all nations, and allocate the goodies in retributive fashion, like they are holding Africa down now.

We had one of those, a while back. It is now called the Dark Ages when there was a Consensus of scientists, politicians, and religious leaders that the Earth was at the exact centrer of the Earth...ever study that in History? The Consensus was nearly 100% of everybody, and the few rich lorded it over the peons who labored under the combination of bad science, bad politics, and bad, downright evil, religion. If you did NOT join the consensus, you usually lost your head. But note, the Consensus was ABSOLUTELY WRONG. The Consensus set Science way back. And Civilization also.

Consensus is NOT truth, proven over and over, but we seem to never learn. Nearly every good advance in society came about because people did NOT accept the reigning Consensus and asked questions. And found answers that the Consensus was wrong, and we moved ahead. Now we are stagnating.

And the data you Goreans are being fed is proven doctored, and all dissent is being stifled, so that your money can go to the already rich, and you will be tied down, poor, with little opportunity to better yourself...because it is the Rules of the Consensus you worship that says so.

And so big companies can become hugely wealthy by the destruction of jungles and rain forest for the Carbon Credits they get. Plant life that took millions of years to develop is snuffed out in minutes, but you are not told this much, or what priceless plants and animals that were still unstudied are now gone forever, with their unique gene codes.

This is the effect of stifling the global warming ala Al Gore and Associates! And the ever faithful Consensus!

This is a lesson in history; I fear we are repeating from never having really studied History so we do NOT repeat the mistakes. Mass destruction without study and careful evaluation of the effects has invariably bad effects.

Nowadays, the Ethanol Craze is causing people to die in large numbers from loss of food supplies, and a great pollution is killing life in the Gulf of Mexico and throwing fishermen out of work and raising the costs of our own food higher and higher.

Nobody ever thought to check the side effects, look at History, politics, interactions in the food chain...just the GW folks said we need to change fuels, and the stampede started, and the results, as usual, are very bad. Look at yourselves when you support the GW Consensus!! Want to be poor and hungry and tied to your shack...go for it.

One last comment, now that everybody is angry and stopped reading!

There is, FROM HISTORY, a quick, inexpensive I believe, and proven method to not only stop global warming, but in fact to set the climate anywhere we want it, from icebox forever to lovely warm tropics at the poles, sunbathing on Antarctica, etc.

The GW folks seldom show details of the global temperatures, in the 1870-1900 period because it would let some folks see what I mean. Nature changed the global temperatures greatly. In this case so much cooler it was almost a catastrophe.

And they also gloss over 1950-1975 period, when man showed how to control global warming, and there were fears we were headed into the ice age prematurely!

Remember...from History?

History shows us how...you can check what happened at the crucial times. Give you a hint, 1970's was when the environmentalists got all the smoking factories on particulate control equipment, and global warming immediately skyrocketed. It's in the figures and History. And another clue, it was NOT CO2!!

Anybody prepared to answer? I will look!

no. the dollar drives the political system. if the government replaced every car that is due to be replaced with an electric car in the year 2000, how long do you think it would take to develope a electric car? e-mail this to everyone you know and ask them to contact their congressmen and ask why this is not done. the ev1 was a great success (electric car). so it could be brought back into production. how green would that be. by the way calif. killed the electric car.

mccain and obama are both ready for a "manhattan project" regarding energy - mccain seems like the best and obama second on this issue

in my opinion the worst on this issue are:
paul - denies global warming
thompson - denies global warming
edwards (anti - nuclear energy)
