Can she ever. She is admittedly not a trained actress, and in that regard reminds me of a modern day Edith Evans, who was worshipped by every actor of her day. She too was untrained. Winslet inhabits these characters totally. She is one of the finest instinctual actors working.

What a question! have you looked at the body of the woman's work? It's no wonder that she was cast in the role she may be most remembered for,"Young Rose" in Titanic.But her early work in british films (and aussie fims as well)showed what great promise she had as a dramatic actress.
