i need a metric container that measures the SI unit for volume (cubic meter)

If you are looking for a container that is a meter per side that is a large container, if however you just need to measure metric volume then a graduated cylinder could work.

That volume is called a stere, and it is awkwardly large for household use: it holds a ton of water. The liter, 1/1000 of that, is the commonly used measure.
