She's been having some problem with her right leg lately. On occasion pain and stiffness or heaviness, but recently she told me of another symptom she has. She told me that sometimes in the mornings when she gets up and starts walking around her right leg feels longer than the other. She described it as walking with one shoe on one shoe off sort of feeling. Anyone have any idea what this could be? This doesn't occur all the time. Thanks.

Is your daughter a gangly teen in the midst of a growth spurt? Weirdness abounds during this time, and will solve itself over time.

Check with a doc. A child's health should not be trifled with!

While it's likely that this is caused by a pinched nerve or growing pains, it would be unwise to just hope that this is the problem. You need to take her to a doctor immediately. An orthopedic surgeon might be best, however, you can't go wrong with a family practice doctor either. In addition, try taking her to a chiropractor to rule out a pinched nerve. Again, do not hesitate to seek medical help and multiple professional opinions. This past summer, I had pains in my Achilles tendon that was originally thought to be a sprain. However, it turned out to be a serious infection that landed me in the hospital for two days. Please, please, please speak to a medical professional. I'm a prime example of what can happen if time is wasted.

She really just sounds like she is growing. One side of everyones body is larger then the other. I know that one of my legs is longer then the other and when I was around 11/12 years old and still growing it bothered me pretty bad. It's alot better now but one leg is still longer. I wouldn't worry but do make an appointment with your pediatrician asap to make sure.
