Well I'm not sure this is rock, but
Happy X-mas(War is over)-John Lennon
Me and Bobby McGee-Janis Joplin...again that's country-rock.
Get it while you can-JJ
Like a rolling stone-Bob Dylan
Cry baby-JJ
Bohemian rhapsody-Queen
Wish you were here-Pink Floyd
Stay with me-Bette Midler
Don't ask why these make me sad...haha.

I have to agree, janis did some really sad songs, and beautifully. She has that gift.
Also another good one is Dying , by Hole. I love that song.

Hurt - Nine Inch Nails.
'What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt'
So sad, but oh so beautiful. :'(
