I'm not saying I'm going to do this I'm just wondering if there's any law against it.
And are there any links that gives advice on how to perform such a procedure?

Duct tape wouldn't work,he'd just take it off and resume talking again loud enough for the whole world to hear.

Hagar,
Telling him to shut the hell up only pisses him off and he'll yell even louder and just so all of you know I wouldn't ever attempt to do such a thing I'm just making a joke out of something that bothers me to the ends of the earth.

Nosdod that sounds like a really good plan only I've already tried it and it doesn't work.
The only thing that will stop him once he gets started on a talking spree is an act of God Himself.
Other than that he won't stop once he gets started and I can't interupt him because he'll talk right through me.
There are two kinds of people in this world.
The first kind talks to you and the second kind talks at you.
The kind who talks at you does so because they love the sound of their own voice and they want to be the expert on the subject controlling the conversation all the way.
Those kinds of people will never learn to shut up because the empty can rattles the most.
The kind of person who talks to you respects your opinion and respects you and engages in an even rapport back and forth from you to them and is interested in what you have to say regarding the issue at hand.
That kind of person is intelligent and interesting and is usally easy to get along with.

Hey, even if you did it, he'd still be able to talk by using an electrolarynx, and you'd go to prison for a VERY long time.
A total laryngectomy is at least a 5-hour operation and is performed by ENTs in their 5th (and last year) of residency, as well as attending surgeons. It is very risky because there are so many blood vessels in the neck.
You'd probably get arrested for murder.

Yes! you'd be practicing medicine without a licence.
That's against the law. Unless you're a doctor, and can prove that there was something wrong with them.

You might just want to ignore him when he's talking to you as loudly as he can. When he asks why you're ignoring him, just tell him you'll answer when he uses a normal tone and volume in his voice.
Yes, it might just piss him off in the beginning, but if you stick to your guns, it should end up working in the long run.
Good luck.

It would certainly be against the law.
If I were the presiding judge, I'd be willing to hear your argument that it was "justifiable mayhem", or whatever the crime is.
Guess I'd have trouble hearing your husband's argument, but I suppose he could hire a mouthpiece (lol)

As long as you are a licensed doctor and have power of attorney, go for it. Better move to Brazil before he wakes up or he might remove something of yours. Get concealing!!

I am quite sure it would qualify as assault. There are probably other laws that apply as well, but that would stick long enough to find a more precise charge.

act like he isn't there "even when he is over his tantrum". hum and sing when he is talking to you. when he cant stand it any longer he'll want to know why you are doing it. tell him its to block the sound of his voice and you will stop humming and singing when he starts talking like an adult and not like a raving lunatic

Why quiet him down with surgery, just tell your husband to shut the hell up.

Yes, of course. It would be assault or worse. You'd do a long stint in jail.
Why don't you do him a favor and just leave him. He would be better off without you. Let him find someone who actually cares for him.
