You can't. People can only change if they WANT to.
You can **try** an intervention. Get everyone that knows her into a room and get her to come over. The message is see all these people that love you and care for you? We will all be gone from your life if you don't get into AA and take charge of your life.
That's about all you can do.
The one thing you **don't** want to do is inadvertently support her behavior by helping her out because she lost her license. These are the consequences of her crime. By helping someone this way, they don't learn the lesson.

Everyone who gets a DUI does not have a drinking problem. I'm not sure what "flips into drunk mode" means but if someone drinks every day, needs to drink in order to deal with problems and/or if alcohol interferes with their life and they still will/can not stop drinking then yes, they have a drinking problem.
The only thing you can really do is try and talk to her. If she won't listen, there isn't really anything you can do, sadly. If she's young, you could tell her parents. If she won't listen and it bothers you so much, you can tell her that you love her but you cannot stand watching her destroy her life this way with alcohol and you can't be around her anymore.
I know people will say you should be there for her but honestly, that won't really do anything but sicken and sadden YOU. People who have an addiction don't care about anybody else. They don't care about anything BUT what they are addicted to and how to get more of it. It is a lonely, one-sided road trying to care about someone in this situation. You have to make the best choice for yourself.

Well since she got a DUI, she will probably get her license taken away, if that is the case, drive her places. Also if you two go out together a lot, try going out to things where alcohol isn't present. If you are afraid of a drinking problem you will know if she can't got a couple days in a row without drinking. Sometimes people with drinking problems have other stressors causing them to drink, see if there is anything else bothering her.

I've been there before so I know what your going through. Firstly if this is a friend that you care enough about then the way you can help her is to go and get her some professoional help before anything happens to her because if you let this continue then you will be even more hurt if something happens to her

she may not have a drinking problem, but it sounds like she can't control her liquor.
I say take the keys....record her so she can hear it the next day. her not being able to control herself will lead to many DUI's, depression (bc of no license) and then a drinking problem.
you aren't in TX are you?

She may or may not have a drinking problem, but she has a demonstrated problem with judgment, so after the "judge" renders his/her verdict, maybe HER judgment will improve.
