In other words, let's say you bring your clothes to the dry cleaners, and did not have time or that you forgot to pick up your clothes from the dry cleaners. It has been a month, and the dry cleaners decides to sell it. Is this illegal? Can they do such a thing? Any sort of help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Every dry cleaner has a conditions of service posted or on your reciept. They state specifically how long you have to pick up, when they consider cloting abandondened and when and what happens then.

Legal? As long as you accepted the conditions with the reciept.

I'm pretty sure most dry cleaners have a policy about people that leave their clothes there. Like, a time limit. If you don't pick your clothes up in a month then they sell them. They're not a storage space. They can only hold your stuff for so long.

When you leave your property for so long then that property eventually becomes the person's who cares for it.. A dry Cleaners is not a storage closet and they (the owners) are only legally liable to hold such items for a given period of time.

I sounds like it is legal. The dry cleaner doesn't want cloths to be hanging around for more than thirty days.

No, it is not illegal if they follow the rules.
There are local laws governing this situation which allow the shopkeeper to sell your clothes with notice after a while if you don't pay.
Usually the receipt has the rules printed on it.
The value of used clothes is so low that most cleaners don't bother selling, they donate.

MOST drycleaners have a sign STATING that if the clothes is not picked up within 30 days they will do whatever they want with it. The sell it to make up for the cost they incurred cleaning it. You should pay more attention to these things.

If you carry your car to a shop and have work done and do not pay they can sell it to recover their loss - better than passing that on to other customers.
