The media shouldn't be a primary source of information about political candidates. They do however seem to be ignoring him.

Because he doesn't have an effective public relations staff to barrage the media with daily press releases and the like. The bulk of "reporters" in the U.S. are graduates of university-based schools of journalism. There are no core curriculum requirements in any of those schools for subject like history, geography, political science, etc. They come away with one skill: the ability to read and write press releases.
Because of that, they do not follow the cardinal rule of good reporting: "If your mother says she loves you, check it out".
If they had followed that rule and went after Congressman Paul, he would be but a distant memory on the political scene. For, in so doing, they would have cast a spotlight on the ranks of conspiracy theorists who constitute a large portion of his supporters. I know. I attended two of the gatherings in Southern Nevada. Those folks are downright scary!
