A Deity cannot grant me happiness because the examined life is inaccessible to deities. Therefore all that could be given is money. Though it is worth far less than a philosophical existence, I would take the money and move on from there.
I would choose money. From there, we can work towards happiness.

i took a long time to write this so please read-
Rich, does NOT ensure happiness.
Okay, i am 13 and my family (parents and 4 kids, my twin sister and 2 older brothers) we are very very poor. My parents are artists, and the other day me and my mom had a conversation. It started out as a fight about how she couldnt afford stuff. Then finally i asked, mom, why are we so poor? And my mom said, "Because me and your dad do what we love, art."
But my life has been soo happy, i have so many fun and happy memories of us all being smooshed into our tiny old 2 door falling apart car, but we were always warm, and we were telling jokes, making fun of the new's people, fighting and laughing the whole way. And we never take things for granted either.
I learned to apriciate everything. If all you get for christmas is a sweater and some candles, you wear that sweater and burn those candles and be very happy that you got a present. Other kids my age got ipods and wiis and all that, but the ipods break, and they whine, and they will never be happy because there is always something higher and better out there than what they allready have.
Now I am happy the way I live now. I love being smooshed into that little car with my brothers and sister getting chinese food, going to the park with my dogs, & adjusting the antenna on the TV. Thats the way I live. And it DOESN'T mean we are uneducated or will be failures. We are all creative and have always had to use our minds instead of everyone doing things for us.
I hope my little speech has shown you that money does not ensure happiness.... Because i'm doing just great.

I thought that the only reason anyone would choose money over anything else would be because of the misconception that it brings happiness. With this in mind, it's always the latter; I focus on happiness, and I rarely worry about money.
I doubt it would work the other way around =oD

A question similar was asked by a radio station...given the choice which would you prefer Wealth Beauty or Love...
Many answered but there appeared to be no outright winner.
Monied persons can choose between melancholy or Mirth.

I'd love to be completely altruisitic and say no. But, as it is, at least some money is necessary to exist at a basic level of comfort.
I've never had pots of money so have never known what it is like.
But where I am now - enough money to get the things I need, with a wonderful partner and two beautiful children? I wouldn't swap that for any amount of money.

Without a doubt, no. What is the point of having money if you haven't been blessed with good enough health to enjoy it and having money doesn't necessarily ensure your happiness. Who could be more richly awarded than someone content with life and happy with it?

Asking this question in such black-and-white terms then I would have to say, though it makes me sound mercenary:--
Yes!
I would rather have wealth than happiness. One could keep themselves busy enough not to worry about or even notice that one was not happy. In addition not having happiness does not preclude one being just reasonably content.
There would be also the possibility of performing philanthropic acts which could enhance contentment.

I wish that I could get the entire formula for happiness right. I think self-worth is part of this. If it meant that I would have to do without a bit of money to have the self-regard I desire then I would.

No way, Life isn't worth living if you can't be happy. But what if money made someone happy they wouldn't really be making a choice would they.
