A lot of people live in a void now. Some people play video games or are on the computer, and yeah in a way that is human contact but not physically. Some people are shut ins. People would just go crazy, if they didn't read or do something to exercise their mind.

poorly. it's natural and a neccesity for the average person to be surrounded by other human beings. we are social creatures, like birds and sheep.
Many people would be driven to insanity or suicide if they were cut off from all human contact.
