I always shut down my computer and my laptop because of heat issues.

But then again, I have a MacBook Pro that is notoriously hot.

As long as the screen is down and your laptop has proper ventilation in a cool room you shouldn't have a problem. If the screen was up you would have LCD burn-in.

This would depend on where you leave it. Laptops can build up heat fast if left on a bed or couch, anywhere it's soft. Even on a table it can build up heat to the point of shutting down. If you really want to leave it run for 3 days, I would suggest using a laptop cooler, or at the least prop it up on a box or something to allow air flow under the unit.

I leave my laptop on 24/7 and so far nothing bad has happened and i got this last year. The only reason that i dont shut down is because i am on it too much. So there should be no problems

you can run your computer forever without shutting down... though every now and then let the batteries run down...then recharge them
