Just redecorate. The Christmas tree, becomes the Happy New Year Tree, becomes the Mardi Gras tree, becomes the Easter Tree. Then you put it up, the day after Easter.

I think this is an individual decision.

Those with live trees, I think need to use more caution, as they are not safe at all after a while.

When our children were home, we liked leaving ours up till after they returned to school from Christmas break. That way it felt like Christmas break the whole time they were home. I do start taking other decorations down, right after Christmas, depending on the item and the room they are in.

Most people wait until after the New Year. I, however, like to take mine down Christmas night for a couple of reasons. I have several people to help, and I decorate my tree in fragile expensive ornaments (no small kids).

Basically, we quit breathing from the time the tree goes up till it comes down, so we are ready by Christmas night.

After the Christmas season ends, on the feast of the Epiphany on Jan 5th, hence the 12 days of Christmas. Remember that the Christmas season starts with Christmas day, not ends with it. So happy 5th day of Christmas to you.

I like to wait until Little Christmas which is January 6th, otherwise known as the Epiphany. Which is the day the magi visited the baby Jesus, thus ending the Christmas season.

I have an artificial tree, with over 3500 lights and about 1000 ornaments. It takes me about 28 - 30 hours to put it up and about 16 - 18 hours to take it down. Two years ago, I was sick after Christmas, and decided to just leave the tree up. (I do take all my other decorations down.) I just ignore it. I like to say that if anyone doesn't like it, they are more than welcome to come & take it down, & then put it back up next season!!!! LOL!!!

Before it becomes an embarrassment. If you are comfortable leaving it up until mid January go for it. But if it becomes embarrassing to have your friends over because your tree is still up then it's time to take it down.

Well, depending on your tree... up to 1 week after Christmas. Once the branches start drooping, you should consider taking it down.(if it's real)
If it's not real, then at least the day before New years.
At least that's what I think.
Hope it helps!
