I am a 28 year old male who believes that there should be a return to modesty. I am very much attracted to the female form, however, I don't understand why women want to expose their bodies to the entire world when it should only be seen by their husbands (not even their boyfriends). And no, I am not super religious or a first generation immigrant from a repressed society of any kind. I am a regular white American from NY. I don't want to hear that bikinis are comfortable, etc. That is a poor excuse. What's the real reason, do women feel it is the only way to attract men. Oh, one more thing - I am not a male who supports feminism, just one that supports a return to modesty. Maybe all the problems with erectile dysfunction has to do with the fact that men have become desensitized to the female body. What do you think?

While I agree that a level of modesty in a woman is attractive, so is confidence.

Personally, I believe that we should accept others' moral imperatives to an extent. If something does not fit our mores or preferences.

For example, if you find bikinis offensive, stay off the beach.

To imagine for one second that your standards should somehow be projected onto the rest of the world to be their standards is frustrated, fascist thinking. It will never get you anywhere but angry.

When you no longer see women's bodies as threatening, your penis will work again.

Oh, and stay away from caffeine, sugars, tobacco, marijuana, and over indulgence in alcohol. All are more closely related to erectile dysfunction than exposure to half naked women. After all, primitive people went (and do) go around half and actually naked, and those guys penises work, right?

So, you've projected your own feelings onto bikini clad women, and refuse to hear what they have to say about it, preferring your own projected ill-feeling. Very fascist, my friend. Stop believing that the world would be a better place if everyone simply agreed with your personal, idiosyncratic opinions. Everyone else's is just as important as your own.

I just couldn't disagree more. I hope women will always feel totally comfortable in their bikinis - or any other kind of swim suit they enjoy. Modesty is OK for women who want to be modest.

To say that wearing a bikini somehow makes a woman immoral is just beyond rediculous. Some of the finest, most good hearted women I know wear bikinis.

Bottom line - there's no correlation at all between the swim suit a woman wears and her morality or her quality as a person.

"Maybe all the problems with erectile dysfunction has to do with the fact that men have become desensitized to the female body"

There isn't an OUNCE of proof showing this to be true.

What's so good about traditional standards of modesty? Most of the things in tradition aren't that great, that's what progress is. Men are free to wear speedos, so women should be free to wear bikinis.

If I had the body for it, I would wear bikinis. Why? It gets incredibly hot during the summer, and if I can wear something like that to ensure a good body temperature, then yes, I would wear it.

You have to realize that the human civilization started off being naked, and clothing was an invention for the weather. Why are there still nudist colonies? They are embracing what is actually NORMAL, not covering up everything because of a set of standards that evolved during the middle ages.

Why are some tribes in secluded areas still running around naked? Some of their dress is purely ceremonial.

Erectile dysfuntion is not a desensitization of the female body, that is incredibly ignorant.

I find this form of thought to be artificially repressive. There is no reason to consider modesty anything else than a leftover from the puritans.

Erectile dysfunction is a physical malfunction and not a mental one. If you are going to make a claim, you should research the facts before stating it.

Nonsense.

Some people might think a bikini is immodest, while others might think one piece swimsuits are, and others would think short sleeves are immodest.

And there is absolutely no reason to think Erectile Dysfunction is due to being "desensitized" by the sight of women.

I would of thought this is a women speaking, But what I don't understand. What is this all about, I thought boys love seeing girls in that and you are like the first one that ever said something like this as a boy. What makes you come up with the question?

it feels good to know you look good. Perhaps we are showing too much nowadays and a little modesty wouldn't hurt, but as previously stated "If I could wear one, I would". I wouldn't wear it everywhere, too much attention makes me uneasy, but some girls love it. It is probably good for theiur self esteem too!

I get what you're saying completely. on one hand, I'd want to be found attractive and have heads turning my way. But on the other hand , I don't want some guy to be unexcited by what I'm allowing him to see, or to be comparing me to some bimbo who bared it all during Mardi Gras.
