If you close your eyes, and try to look you can perceive the daylight right where you're trying to focus. You'll see red if you look straight to the light. And if you're really sleepy you'll see a bunch of strange images. When peolpe are deprived of sleep for long periods of time they can see weird stuff even if their eyes are wide open.
