First of all, She should be made to pay that $250,000 back. Then I would make her become active in some kind of missing and exploited kids program.

She shouldnt be punished at all she didnt do anything ,she just left her husband to be with her boyfriend ,if they want to blame someone blame whoever decided she was missing and whoever decided to waste all that time and money looking for someone who wasnt missing. If they had just waited a few days ,she'd have turned up ,right after her romantic getaway.

Why punish her, she shouldn't receive any punishment, she has a right to run away if she wants.

If she was doing something foolhardy and required rescuing then I'd be all in favour of her having to pay the entire cost of the rescue.

I have not heard whether they will persue any charges against her. I really dont know what they could charge her with. It is not against the law to run away. Her family is the one who reported her missing. It is better that they did spend that kind of money than to have not looked and then she is found murdered. Better safe than sorry.

In some countries, there is one "Social cost-benefit analysis"... this may be applied here also. Some body is to take the responsibility to caution others. Thanks
