These aren't necessarily in order of importance in my book, however:
More important than # 1: If you have kids, MAKE TIME FOR
THEM. If you don't, then volunteer! They need more help and guidance than ever. Let your kids know you love them!
1.Get out and help people - times are really tough!
2. If you have extra $, donate it to those who need it (kids, schools, elderly, shelters etc.)
3. Get politically active, online, in person or both.
4. GET INFORMED! Stop watching mainstream news and check out PBS, C-SPAN and BBC, for starters.
5. Read some actual books (NOT just Harry Potter!).
6. Try to write only positive things online.
7. Travel!
8. Re-connect with old friends & make new ones.
9. Change your oil on time!
10. Call distant parents/kids, even if you think they're "Okay".
11. Learn to cope w/ stress! Stop thinking about the past, worrying about the future and concentrate on today. Try mediation, deep breathing, anger management.
12. Teach someone who needs it something you know and learn something you don't, from somebody else.
13. If you need to lose weight, don't diet, just get active, even if it's just walking around the block.
14. Take better care of your health and teeth.
15. If you have kids, get life insurance.
16. Go out into nature and just soak it in...we may not have it much longer...at least not the way it is!
17. Be decent to one another, especially at home.
18. Stop lying.
19. Be more tolerant of other religions, races, sexual orientations, political views.
20. Try a new genre of music, movie or other art.
21. Plant a tree...plant a few! (Many towns give them away).
22. Get rid of clutter in your house; donate useful things to those who need them.
23. Fight against Internet porn, esp. child porn.
24. If you're up to it, shovel snow from someone's walk for nothing.
25. Take your kids (or anyone you like) to a museum, concert or other cool location/activity.
26. Try to cut back on smoking, drinking and other drugs (even Rx ones & stuff like aspirin).
27. Learn to tango.
28. Write your memoirs.
29. Write anything and post it online.
30. Learn about or Brush up on birth control if you're young enough to reproduce.
31. Do something that's frightening (Ex: learn to fly, hang glide, enter a race, take a boat ride 'til you can't see land).
32. Adopt a pet if you can.
33. Have a quiet, family dinner at least once a week.
34. Guys: MAKE DINNER, clean up, watch the kids, or do whatever you usually DON'T do.
35. VOTE
