Not necessary - for Pakistan. Any way there will be coup by the General of the day.

Necessary - for India. We need to weed out the self centred politicians, especially the regional satraps who serve only their families.

The elections are necessary because there are some morons in the electoral college that rely on people letting out there option. So lets say that I am going to pass a law on motor cycles and I never road on one in my life. In the mind state of these morons they will either make the best decision with out using the most brain power or they with make the worst decision and see what the people think. So if we didn't have elections then these idiots would make the best decision based on nothing. If we all vote then we have a chance that they will make there decision based on that.

Only if you want to have a voice in who runs the government. Dictators don't seem to like elections.

By the way, in English, your question should read 'Are elections necessary?'

yes elections is necessary, but I think India needs a Leader who acts like a dictator when the development of the country is at stake. A leader who doesn't think of power or portfolio but only development of the nation, I wish we had leaders like Sadar Patel (PM), Subash Chander Bose(Defence Minister), Sanjay Gandhi(Home Minister). Chankya ( Fiance Minister), APJ Abdul Kalam as President.
