I can tell you. Make-up helps a woman's face look the way it does when she is being "sexually satisfied". Blush makes cheeks look flushed, mascara and eyeliner makes the eyes look bigger and pupils look more dilated and lipstick makes lips look full of color (representing health). All other forms of makeup (concealer, eyeshadow, ect.) are either a trend or covering up imperfections like pimples and freckles and uneven coloring.

Through the ages people have used makeup for many reasons. Today it's worn to enhance appearance mainly. Makeup can hide imperfections, and enhance certain features. With a little practice you can learn to do some contouring, etc. When we feel we look good, usually it lifts the spirits and we actually feel better about ourselves and are more confident, thus more successful in what we do.

Make-up hides imperfections, enhances our assets and makes them more noticeable. Not sure what you mean by the second question. If you are asking what people used years ago, they really didn't wear much make-up, maybe "rouge" or some powder. A little later in time, black eyeliner and over-plucked eyebrows became popular. Believe me all the thousands of make-up products out there are fairly recent developments.

Because it draws attention to that person. Make up was orginally worn by MEN, not women. Usually kings or noble men because it would show that they were rich. Then later women adopted it in, and now a days its used to bring out special features on a person and cover parts they don't like. So the meaning of make up has changed over the years.

As the word makeup denotes that it is used to make up to defeciencies of outlook by application of external items that are useful to skin and body ... derived from herbal or other useful items with medicinal effect that gives better look and brighter look to the person . Hundred of years ago as you said it our people were good in using different oils and termeric paste for face and body and "Shika Kai" for hair etc.
It helps to increase our look and gives you confidence also in the present public life.

It helps people enhance their looks. Make-up can make your best facial feature really pop and make you look more attractive. When people first started wearing make-up, it was for religious ceremonies and such. Think about the Native Americans and how many used to do lots of face painting. Since then, make-up has changed to how it is now.

I wouldn't be caught dead without my make-up! Believe me, it wasn't just 100 years ago that people came up with makeup - look at some pictures of Egytian history and other ancient cultures. Even the men smeared it on.

Makeup is desighned to make it look like you don't have any kind of blemishes. Also it makes it so that you can make your face what you want it to look like. ex. If you have big eyes and you want them to look smaller then you could use dark eye makeup. In the end makeup is an illusion

i know the technical answer is eviloutinary tactics like blushing and having big eyes mean you look 'in love' and therefore attractive - but whats the point really, you can just make those feelings naturally. Though i do like to wear a tiny bit of mascara on special occasions and i wear lip balm - but in truth i think the whole 'emo-eyes' (black eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow) is just kinda.. odd..
