I'm already wearing a sequined hot pink dress and pink pumps, im not sure if that works with that decade but i want an excuse to wear it. Can anyone help me to make it more 60's? How should i do my hair and make up? What kind of accessories should i add?

my hair falls about 2 or 3 inches below my shoulders and i guess i am going for the early 60s, not really the hippie thing. The dress falls a bit above my knee.

Watch Grease and Grease 2, that should give you plenty of ideas on hair styles and what-not...
Accessories need to be big and flashy, borderline gaudy.

I'm imagining the early 60's here based on the outfit you describe. How much hair do you have to work with? If it's long, pull back into a high pony tail or go even more elegant and do a chignon. If it's relatively short, "rat" (back comb) into a very poofy style (known as a beehive). Simple earrings, pink or white. .

In my area, makeup was pretty understated but this could be a regional variation. Eyeliner was big, though, so black eyeliner and lots of mascara is needed. And, you should have VERY pink lipstick (matte).

If the sequin dress is fancy, a longer string of "pearls" would be appropriate, with a small white handbag (best with handles). Your stockings should be very sheer (if you are Caucasian, think light tan or beige...close to your own skintone) and silky (think Hanes, not Leggs).

Hope this helps. Have fun.

Jackie-O is a great idea, if you want to go high fashion.

I see other ideas on here that have nothing to do with the 60s--Grease? That is 50s. Poodle skirts? That is 50s! Disco? That was 70s.

The 60s was not a monolithic, single culture. There was the early 60s, pre-Beatles, pre-British-culture-invasion, and that was ski pants, big sweaters, bee-hive hair, and the elegant Kennedy White House.

Then there was mid- to late-60s, after the Beatles hit, and that was Twiggy (who did NOT tease her hair!), mod-style, and that was followed by the hippies in late 60s.

So

For A Hippy... Not Sure If It's 60's?
Get some old jeans and cut a little along the seam down at the bottom, then get some flowery material and stitch it up, so then you should have flared jeans with a hippy-style added to it.
Any flowery kind of top, quite loose and floaty should do.
Hair could be plaited, or just natural and left down. Flower chain in your hair would be a cute touch =)

Have a great time!

I think your dress is o.k. as long as it is close to being a mini skirt. Tall almost up to the knee glossy or shiny or plastic looking boots are very 60's too. Maybe you could get some old 60's sun glasses at a thrift store or eBay maybe. Your hair should be big in some way Afro like or beehive style. Big jewelry hoops and or big bangle bracelets. Lots of eye make up will make you look 60's too.

Sound like a go-go dancer from the earlier 60's, not the hippie era. Cool! My wife says: make sure the dress is VERY short, wear heavy eye makeup w/light, pink or even white lipstick (I'm looking at my wife's prom picture from then....lol! I'm glad I wasn't her date!).

She also says to tease your hair into a huge beehive or a "flip" (like Gidget), with bangs almost covering your eyebrows. If you go with the flip, try one of those huge, plastic headbands (kids wear them now) Also, huge earrings, are mandatory, it seems.

Watch some of the old "Beach Blanket Bingo"-type films, or even the 2nd Austin Powers movie. Just check out the Fembots, even in the first one,...rowwrr! Well, that's all I know...or care to remember!

Glitter eyeshadow that goes above the crease. Hot pink lipstick. A high ponytail on the top of your head, with a sequin scrunchie.

Think Twiggy......little dots of eyeliner under your bottom lashes. Teased hair. Make sure the pink dress is a mini - preferably a micro mini.

it sounds more like you're ready for 70's,try changing to hiphuggers ,jeans of course,a rip here a rip there,or sew some flower patches,or just go buy a pair, the new empire style shirts fit right in,flared arms, and if you dare, go barefoot,or flip flops, paint a flower on your face, hair, long and straight,or short and curly,no makeup,60's were all natural, try beads, bangle bracelets, and rings, toe rings too!take it from me ,i was there!try flowers in you're hair.by the way we did not wear plastic! and miniskirts, they came later.like i said no makeup, all natural.

A long straight "ironed" look would work if you can manage it, plus some beads and black eye-liner and false lashes. If you are young no one there may remember what the 60's looked like anyway.
