If you go to the cleanser aisle of your grocery or hardware store, you will find many products that will remove tarnish from silver plate, but are you sure that you want to? Often if the object to be cleaned is an antique, if you remove the tarnish (patina), then you could lessen it's value. Please do a little research before you clean it.

Use toothpaste and a soft brush to scrub silver. Rinse with water and dry.
