My friend wants to name her daughter Jordan and that is the fathers last name. They want opinions on how to spell it. They would like a more feminine appraoch is possible. Here is what they are thinking:
Jordyn (my personal favorite)
Jordin
Jordan
Any other suggestions? And what would you choose?

Jordan is more a male spelling. For a girl I would go with Jordyn.

All of the names can be for either gender but since Jordan is more common, I would go for Jordyn. BTW, why do they want to name their daughter with a name sounding like the last name? Don't need to answer that. That can be another question for Y!A.

I personaly like Jordyn, because it is a unisex name. Jordan is more of a guy spelling, and we call my friend Jordy, and he is a boy, so Jordyn would be appropriate for a little girl.

If you use any other spelling other than Jordan - the child will be spelling her name for everyone for the rest of her life - spare her that.
Also, a friend of mine has a little girl named Katelyn. I don't know if that is the "typical" spelling but when I heard her name, I spelled it that way and then asked her and she said that is the way she spelled it because it made sense.

Stick with Jordan, the traditional spelling. Anything else, though they may look nice, just put more stress on the kid. She will have her name spelled wrong for a while, even ask the little girl Jaetynne (pronounced Jaden) from across the street ;)

My name is Jordan Lyn, so I would stick with Jordan for a girl like my name. I like the spelling Kaitlyn which is how my nieces' name is spelled.

i think you should tell your friend to name the boy Jordyn because the others that spell ed Jordan are names that people use a lot and you don't want to name him Jordan to be in the crowd you should name him jordyn to stand out and just be himself.
