i think that the ergot poisoning had some thing to do with purely how undesirable the area have been given, yet i think of that on the inspiration of all of it it exchange into purely prejudice, jealousy and envy, and not something to do with actually witchcraft. religious fanaticism is a risky, risky ingredient, and is extremely detrimental, as you have study, i'm particular. For an exciting parallel to the Salem Witch Trials, that's particularly helpful to study up on the top of the Medici reign in Florence, and what occurred whilst the monk Savonarola took the pulpit in that city. It easily wasn't ergot poisoning that have been given to the loads, and the destruction easily wasn't as time-honored, yet what occurred in Florence for the time of that element might desire to be considered as a results of fact the "prototype" (on the subject of what a slender-minded and propose-lively chief and inhabitants can do) for what occurred at Salem 1000's of years later. additionally, something to do with the historic previous of the Inquisition will supply you astonishing perception into what might have long gone incorrect at Salem.

I don't know anything re a compromise in the Salem Witchcraft Trials...I thought it finally died out....as people finally stopped buying from one baker on one side of the village, and bought from the other one, whose bread didn't bring such reactions............Researchers later found out that "ergot', a fungus that grew on damp rye plants was the cause of the abberant behavior!! I think a baker on one side of the town used grain from a kind of marshy area in which the fungus flourshed. Another baker used a field on the other, and had no such negative results. Ergot caused a hullucinatory reaction and is thought to have occurred all throughout history. Science has found that ergot weakens the immune system and led to susceptibility to the plauge!----In the 1700's, people thought the "cause" was that of a religious experience and was honored as such.

Here are two very good websites for the court documents on the Salem Witch Trials. Since I am related to one of the accused (Margaret Scott), I have looked around a little. You should find all of the information you will need to prove your thesis. Good Luck!
