The check engine light has been on for a week, and the car runs fine. It only has 60,000 miles. How do I fix it to get the light to go out. And could it be only the canister if the scanner says it is. Thank you.

Check the hose to the canister, it is often the culprit. A similar canister from just about any other ''wreck'' can be used should it turn out to be the canister.

Get a new canister and hose at an auto parts store, or get a used one at the junkyard.

There is a clamp on either end of the hose.

Remove the original, install the replacement. Good to go.
