Everything depends on what features are on your phone and which ones you are going to use. Here is a guide:

1) Just using the phone with no contacts stored, minimum memory.
2) Keep contacts, go on the Internet, view maps, no music downloads or pictures. medium memory
3) Add pictures and music and videos, maximum memory.

You can always add memory so use this as a guide. I am not giving you the actual size because the depends on the cel phone.

depends what you want to use your phone for, if its a camera phone that takes pictures, and an mp3 phone, then at least a gig, if u dont want it to do both for example just take pictures that you would put on your computer then delete then maybe 512, but if u want decent memory at least a gig and if u can afford more then go for it, depends wat u want to do with ur phone.
