I don't HATE New Year's...I just don't really care for it. I mean, yeah, it's nice to celebrate the new year with friends/family...but like you said, it's almost become forced.
And if you don't have plans on New Years (other than to sit at home), everyone else looks at you like you're stupid.

Why do you allow yourself to be led by the crowd? If you feel obliged, then it is just you kowtowing to the desires of others. Be yourself, and allow yourself to do what YOU want on new year's eve.
I sit in front of the tv and flip thru the parties, and hopefully stay awake long enough to watch the ball drop! But, if I miss it, no big deal. It's not like the world will stop revolving. Oh, yeah, i sat in anticipation of the great anticipated planetary blackout new year's eve 1999! Not that I believed anything would happen, just I wanted to be a part of the thrill of the moment if my tv went blank! Har d har. Yep, I was in front of my tv then, too.
Nah, new years eve is ok. Christmas - now I am totally glad that is over. It has to be the most stressful time of the year. I don't buy into the commercialization of it, but there's always the coreographing family get-togethers and all. And the traffic. And the totally rude shoppers. Can't go buy a loaf of bread without getting upset at the shoppers.
Why not just stay home Monday night, slip into your jammies, sip on some bubbly, watch the parties on tv, and enjoy the quiet time to reflect on how horrible all the others were in comparison to how cool this one is.

You make a good point. I've also never been to a New Years Eve party that I truly enjoyed - there was almost too much expectation for it to be perfect and it always falls short.

No, it's my birthday!
But birthday aside, NYE is really nothing special. Birthday really isn't either to be honest. I usually sit at home and watch TV like any other regular night lol.
Haven't had, or been to, a party on that night since I was like 5! lol
Happy New Years To You! :D

i'm with you, iáve hardly ever had a good new years eve and your whole year should be fun then putting all your energy in one day to be great. it is forced just like birthdays and other celebrations. life should just happen and shouldnt be so pre organized all the time. =)

agreed and the New Years "ball dropping" is soooo overrated (to me) Besides, I think people shouldnt wait till the last night of the year to have fun. people should celebrate all the time!

Yeah I don't like it either.
