hi mate
this is one of the mid range direct x 10 cards by nvidia, and it has some decent specifications aswell including a 450mhz core clock and 512mb of ddr2 memory running at 400mhz(800mhz ddr effective)
with a 128bit bus this equates to a memory bandwidth of 12.8gb/sec,which is one par with the 7600gs and the x1650pro
however the geforce 8500gt has the added advantage of being sli-compatible,ideal if you want to add a second card at a later date
other interesting specifications and features include ...
Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0 support
True 128-bit floating point high dynamic-range (HDR) lighting
NVIDIA PureVideo Technology
Built for Microsoft Windows Vista
VGA
S-Video (HDTV)
DVI-I
7 Pin S-Video to HDTV (YprPb) Lead
DVI-I to VGA Converter
Driver CD
so yes its a good card for its price and as long as your not a extreme gamer who thrives max frame rates this card should serve you well
good luck and happy new year !

If you plan to play games, don't get it, period. Even for midrange gamers, you could get a better card for just a little less money. The ONLY purpose this card serves is for people who want a graphics card for watching movies or something along those lines, this is NOT a gaming card, period.
