It depends on how long you expect it to hang around. If it's going to be more than 24 hours, many municipalities have sections of their municipal code saying that you MUST shovel your sidewalk or other common access within 24 hours of the last time at which snow was falling. Some places will fine you heavily if you don't comply (and most places include public right-of-way that fronts your property). Check with your city codes (usually online).

If you think that it will be melted in 24 hours or so, then don't worry about it :-)
