I'm with you. Mine went down on the 26th as well. We had already put away our gifts and both of us had the day off. We cleared them away and also did a bit of "weeding" through the decorations we didn't use. The "weeds" went to Goodwill. We also cleaned and dusted.

I took the interior decorations down on 12/27 but left up the tree, which came down today. Was going to wait until New Year's Day, but thought...why bother. I feel the same about the house getting back to normal. I feel like I have it decorated for holidays from mid September thru January. At some point, I'd like some normalcy. The exterior decorations are still up. I'm sure I'll pull them all down within the next 3 days. I don't think you're nuts.

You are NOT nuts!! Actually, I'm putting my inside decorations now. (Just taking a quick break.)
My neighborhood REALLY decorate our yards - we even have people coming from all over the state to see our displays. We start putting stuff up the middle of October and have it ready for the "Grand Lighting" Thanksgiving night. We start to take it down Christmas afternoon.
As for my house, I have an artificial tree with 3500 lights and about 1000 ornaments. It takes me 28-30 hours to put it up & 16-18 to take it down. Two years ago, I decided to leave it up, and just ignore it. I do take down all the other stull, tho. By Christmas, I'm kinda tired of all the lights & glitter, and am ready for a stark, plain house for a while.

I love Christmas decorations too. To maximize the time frame, I put them up on the day after Thanksgiving and take them down on 12th Night. Twelfth Night marks the coming of the Epiphany. King Cakes are baked and Christmas decorations are taken down so as not to bring bad luck to the home. Twelfth Night also marks the beginning of Carnival, which ends will Mardi Gras Day. (if you can't tell - I grew up in New Orleans)

I took my tree down the day after Christmas. I took down the decorations outside two days after. There is nothing wrong with that. I also have a couple other friends that took their tree down after Christmas.

(Traditionally..) My Mom and Dad, (Mom) "almost made a mistake!" would get a tree right after Thanksgiving, when the trees came in..(the fresher the better!) and the whole house would get decorated and re-decorated..untill my"Mom" said it was "good!" I remember my Dad (poor guy..) having to take apart the tree 3 times! because it wasn't "just right!" (my Mom helped..) this was back when they had aluminum tinsel..(long time ago..)..and for all that work? We kept it up untill after the New Year..but me? i got a 3 foot tree..it's plastic..easy up..easy down...goes right into a box untill next year...but, it still stays up till after the New Year! "Peace!"

I usually do it the weekend after New Years...I'm just not ready to put everything away...it takes so long to put it up and I feel like I haven't even fully enjoyed it with all the hustle and bustle of Christmas....but whatever makes you happy, go for it.

According to my family we bring it up after Thanksgiving and bring it down on January 7th. Reason why we leave it up for so long is because according to catholic or perhaps mexican belief, the 3 wise men don't arrive to Jesus's place of birth until the 6th. We celebrate the 6th as.. "the 3 wise men holiday".. lol. This is when kids leave out one stocking or shoe and await for the wise men to come and leave you candy or gifts inside.
Later.

I would prefer New Years Day
My hubby likes to leave it up longer.
So sometime between Jan 1 - Jan 8, probably the weekend after New Years.
I want all the crap packed up and out!
