If you can afford to go for a year without seriously derailing your academic program, do it. When else in your life will you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture for a significant period of time? Probably not until after you retire, and by then there may be a lot of things you can't do and you may have a lot of other obligations which tie you down. In a year, you should get a good grasp of the language and culture, along with having a lot of time to travel to other parts of Europe. If you have to limit it to one semester, I would go in Fall, because the weather tends to be better (you miss the nasty January and February).

Studying overseas is regularly the nice factor you would do. Traveling to different international locations is nice, however you don't get an absolute believe of the tradition and society untill you are living there for no less than 1 / 4. You will be trained such a lot approximately one-of-a-kind cultures and approaches of lifestyles. It will quite difference your lifestyles. You will see America in a entire new gentle. You will quite enjoy an extra nation and immersed in it. You may not be watching at it like a traveler, who sees it as though he used to be on the zoo looking. You shall be dwelling it, and finding out such a lot.

It depends on how long you want to be gone, how much money you have, and what classes are available each term. Some classes may or may not be offered each term, and obviously staying longer is more expensive considering the exchange rate it $1 to 1.4 euros approx.
