What Dr. Hale says about NyQuil and nursing:

Nyquil is potentially sedating to a breastfed infant. In a newborn, or in one who is subject to apnea, I would not use it at all.

In older, stable, mature infants, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

But avoid pseudoephedrine, and avoid these in moms who have a poor milk supply, as they may potentially suppress milk to some degree.

I don't aparticularly like these agents as they could potentially cause problems in some infants, and they really don't help the mother much at all.

Tom Hale, Ph.d.

It is safe but Vicks Dayquil treats both congestion, cough, and fever; if you only have one symptom it is much better to only treat that one symptom. It is best to treat fever separately if possible as a fever of 100-102 both kills the virus or bacteria and kicks your immune system into high gear.

The ingredients:
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is a fever reducer and pain reliever. Remember this is in the medication you are taking before you take acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant, it is rated L1(safest)

Phenylephrine: all decongestants have the potential to reduce breastmilk supply and should be taken with caution. Phenylephrine is considered the least likely to do so but still shouldn't be taken by women with supply problems or for a long period.

Well I would start with the list of things you are allowed to take while you are pregnant. The baby was inside you then and getting everything you took, so I would think those would definitely be safe now.
I am 34 weeks and I know that I am allowed to take Tylenol, Benadryl, Claritin, Mucinex, and (as long as blood pressure is low) Sudafed.
Might any of these work for you?

On my pregnancy list it says I can take Robutussin (the regular kind without any capital letters), Vicks (but none with alcohol like nyquil), Sudafed, or Benadryl. If its ok in pregnancy, I'd hope its ok nursing. Just remember that if it makes you sleepy, it'll probably make the baby sleepy too.

i know on the lable it sayes if your pregnant or nursing not to take it without a doctors approval. if anything call up to a local 24/7 nuring hotline and ask their oppinion. or even call up to your local maternity ward and ask them. a local obgyn will have to be in the area for his opinion. someones gotta be having a baby. and i know its like eh i dont want to bother them. but they really dont mind as long as its a genuine question and your nice. better safe than sorry aswell. best of luck and i wouldnt go by what people on here say..we dont know anything about your pregnancy or how your doctor feels about you taking this stuff. we arent professionals.

Any Type of Tynoel. Vicks isn't good for the baby. Just the Tynoel is safe.

This happened to me once and I was told to feed my daughter, then take the meds, and by the time the next feeding came along it would be fine.

Why not talk to a pharmasist instead? I always check with my pharmasist when it comes to my medications. I cant tell you for sure.

Try looking it up on this website. Might be some suggestions there

I'm sure that it can't harm her at all. But before you take the medicine mix it with a dub of water. you'll regret it if you don't.

Don't worry, nothing will happen!
