I'm thinking about buying a car but he says the transmission is starting to wind. Any suggestions of why that would be happening? He says it may just need to be flushed. I live in Michigan and some people say it may just be because of the cold weather....HELP!!!!!!! LOL

Noisy transmissions are trouble. Tell them you're going to find a different ride. Don't get suckered into a bad deal just because you are in a hurry, You'll be sitting with a car that doesn't move because of a bad tranny and have all your money tied up in a piece of junk.

I guess by "winding" you mean whining. Probably the front pump or torque converter in the trans is going bad, when the fluid is cold it is thicker and harder for the pump to circulate thus making the noise when it is cold. The noise is probably there when it is warm too it just gets much louder in the cold.

Flushing will probably not help the thing is worn out.

Why do tou think he's selling the car? He knows the transmission will be costly to fix. Beware.
