Even tho I started here in April I think....

What a colorful group lol.

I am forever thankful to my troll that harrassed me for months on end...... giving a bad name to all teenagers ...

The perpetual questions every single day about insisting the folks must be poopkins a horse, simply because they were given birth into that family...

The - I simply can't reprimand my horse and those who tell me to are being abusive, so I will live with the stitches and missing nose and 1/2 a face, but by george, I love my horse...

The ever post building topic of horse slaughter which brings out the harrassing trolls....

The thumbs downers that have absolutely no social skills.

The ones that are 'vets' posting the most aweful advice that would make any horse owner with a manual shudder.

Now the bonus points :)

My buddiessssssss...... met some really cool ppl on here with loads of experience.

Passes my on call time when I'm waiting for another wackjob patient to show up at 2am.

The laughs honestly are in large supply here.

Anyway, state your personal recaps :)

The thing that stands out the most for me is the tremendous amount of support that people have shown for Slewer regarding his surgery and post op recovery. The amount of emails I've received has been enormous and I've read them all and intend to reply once I get past New Year!

Yeah, I joined Y!A on January 4 last year, and it's been a lot of fun. I feel like I know most of you in the horse section. I recently spent time with my horse-loving family in Idaho, and so many times I found myself quoting something I'd heard on Y!A and talking about what horse people are talking about these days. It really keeps you current when you're answering people's questions, and then there are the questions that no one would ever think of in a million years....whatever, like someone else said, you take the good with the bad. I like it, I'm addicted, and my husband is mad because I waste too much time talking to people I'll never meet. But it's all for the horse's sake, so I figure it's time well spent.

Nice question-- Happy New Year!

Having trained horses for the past 20 years, I have to say that if I had to undergo stitches and to lose my nose over a horse who is so mean to do that to me then there is no way that I could sell that horse nor could I ever be seen in public again. A horse who causes such injuries is a danger to be around and either should be trained properly but naturally. If not then I would hate to be responsible for selling a horse who could do unessacary damage to other people! Especially little children. As for the slaughtor houses, there are times when a person has to put their beloved horse down and has nowhere to put his/her body. A vet can come out to the barn to do the unforgettable but there are companies who will pick up the dead animals and bring them to a meat market. As for people who are sick enough to just raise horses for the slaughtor housed then they should be made to go to one and stand there and see how some of those places treat those poor animals who are terrified already.

Wow time flies, I only started here at the beginning of November so my year in recap is pretty short!

There are some amazing people here and I feel like I actually know some of you! There are also some amazingly stupid people and I am not speaking of the little ones who think they know but the adults who are sooooo sure they know and I tremble at some of the advice that is given.

I haven't been beset by trolls yet just the ever present thumbs downers.

I am looking forward to getting to know some people better.

I have noticed that I am burnt out on certain questions, "how do I get my parents.............." is the worst.

Happy New Years and good riding to all

The trolls can be hysterical....such bad manners!!

Some really knowledgeable people are on this board and they have excellent answers.

The true pluses ...."talking" with folks from all parts of the world. Have totally enjoyed that..very enlightening.

The only negative, those that answer/or ask a question and relish taking sarcastic shots at other posters...aren't we all in this to learn something? May the community guideline police haunt your in-box. And the fleas of 1000 camels infest your armpits.

Thanks to all of you...it's been fun!

For me personally, the birth of my colt Tobey, who took near 8 years to get here.A dream come true, is a highlight, a memory on my heart, and soul.Blessed am I for him.
The loss of my beloved Kate, has left a whole the size of heaven on my heart, who I feel is still with me,but so dearly missed.
Y!A has been an interesting journey into a completely different type of forum that I have enjoyed at times, cringed at times and learned at times.
The trolls are WAY out there - good lord I sincerely hope that for some of them, the only equine contact they have is with Breyer models..
There are some genuinely intelligent and educated individuals here who, like myself, hope to pass on what we know and have learned. With the horse being the number 1 priority.
I wish all of you a happy new year, one filled with joy, clear trails, good trips around the show ring, good lessons filled with "light bulb" moments, strong healthy colts & fillies, warm pastures and good times with friends..
Blessed Be & Peace to All,
Terri

Well i joined yahoo answers at the end of summer. Many new things have happened for me with horses in 2007. I started taking horseback lessons for the first time. I tried both western and english. Also I leased my first horse. He has taught me so much and all of this happened just this year. The year 2007 definatley taught me the most about horses than any other years combined.

When it comes down to Trolls! I do 3 things. I block them report them, and go to the back page butane and give them a thumbs down.As fare as tacking care of animals,my grand parents whore carol and inhuman as Farm Rancher's.I was punished for cutting the Cockle Burs out of the tail hear of my Grandpa's Mustang.Stating she needs the netted hear to swat the flies. After I had cleared the hear her constant shaking of the tail stopped. As kids we grue up knowing 3 Horses. The mustang is still alive with a torn nostril. The other 2 where lift to fend for them selves on a 100 aces of range land.A puddle of minrolized well water,A block of salt, sage brush, and the occasional bail of hay.A good stiff 2 by 4 will make a cow do what you want.My family could not cache a fence post with a lasso.Although my grate grandpas Father was tot to lasso by Harry Longabaugh (The Sundanese Kid). The best roper he ever saw. With one throw he could lasso a Cow and have it tiyed up before the cow could fight for freedom. And brought the first heard of Longhorns to Texas with the help of Robbert Parker, and Harry Longabaugh.Thats my famelys story and I'm stiking to it.

I think I have made a few friends and learned a fair bit about the American side of the horse world ( so different to life "over here" in some ways and so similar in others lol )
I have laughed, cried and groaned aloud at some of the things I've seen on here. And rolled with laughter to find that we share so many common problems and so many down to earth old fashioned remedies for them ( motor oil, WD40 and baling string to name but a few !)
My daughter discovered Howrse and Horseland ( er, thanks I guess.....)
Thanks to you all I finally got around to setting up a photo sharing account too.( Although 360 still seems like too much trouble)

Looking forward to more of the same in the coming months,
Best wishes to all
