I went to the doctor yesterday because I had a fever , flu like symtoms, and I was cramping a little bit. And im 5 weeks pregnant. The doctor sent me to the emergency room, when I finally got in they did ultrasounds the vaginal one and the regular one and all they saw was an eggsac. so the doctor told me I could be about to misscary sinse they didnt see the embryo inside the eggsac... but then he told me it might be to early to see the embryo because Im only 5weeks so is he just leading me on so i would have hope because I dont want to think there is a chance and then i really misscairage , and feel bad all over again..
And they also said I have a bladder infection could that be why Im cramping?

sorry this is so long

At 5 weeks, sometimes they can see the embryo and sometimes they cannot, so no, they are not just leading you on, they were being honest.

Yes, having a UTI can cause cramping. Any kind of infection can cause the uterus to be irritable and have cramps.

You're going to have to wait it out and have another ultrasound in another couple of weeks and see then if they can find the baby. Good luck to you.

I just had a 5 week ultrasound and they couldnt see anything only a trace of fluid. They couldnt even see a sac. I was so devasted and thought that I must have been dreaming or something and that I wasn't even pregnant. I took the ultrasound results back to my doctor and because my hcg blood results were good, he said not to worry cause it is to early to see much. The only reason that they sent me so early is because I had pain in my right side and they thought it could be a ectopic but they couldnt see absolutley anything, only the trace of fluid. So I wouldnt worry to much, I got to have another ultrasound in a few more weeks cause he said you can definately should see something then. That is a great sign that they saw your sac though, cause that sure is the start of it and dont worry to much.

I had a 4 week ultrasound and they saw nothing i was so worried that maybe i wasn't pregnant at all. But now im 30 weeks and pretty sure that the moving basketball inside me is a baby. So don't worry. But bring up your concerns with your doctor on your next visit. Good luck and Congrads

At my 5 week sonogram all that was there was the egg sac. My u/s tech said not to worry it is just too eary. I also had very bad cramping and bleeding. The cramping was attributed to my uterus making room fo baby and bleeding was implantation bleeding. I had another sonogram at 10 weeks and baby's heart beat was loud and clear. 17 weeks later, all is good! Good luck and congratulations. Oh yeah...there is a blood test that they can do to see if you are having a miscarriage. You have to go three times every other day...we had that due to the bleeding.

At 5 weeks it's still very early.. most doctors wont see anything until 6 weeks. If they saw a yolk sac/gest sac at 5 weeks then that is good! And cramping during pregnancy is normal because your uterus is expanding!

A bladder infection can cause abdominal pain, so that could be it. At 5 weeks only a gestational sac is visible. Hopefully they'll do another next week. Good luck.

Sweetie...5 weeks is waaay early to see anything on an ultra sound....did they listen for a heart beat? Just take it easy and try to relax and stay calm...stress can make things worse. Good luck...and pray!
