He will thrive just fine on formula. Solid foods really dont provide much nutrition to babies, we only say to start at 6 months to get them used to eating off a spoon, and get them used to different textures. If he's been sick it's normal for him not to want to eat. As long as he's drinking then he's fine.

*I did answer your question, he's fine, nothing to worry about. Oh..and it's not my opinion, it comes from all the classes I've taken for my masters degree and the multiple trainings I have to do every year for my job, from pediatricians, nutrionists, GI specialists, etc...

Keep trying his solid foods, but formula alone will get him by until he is feeling better. Sorry, but Melissa is right on track there (and judging by credentials, knows what she is saying). Do you feel like stuffing yourself with a huge, filling meal when you are sick? No, many people eat light and many switch to soup (a liquid) and survive just fine. If he was hungry, he would let you know it.

I love it when I hear questions from mothers who are truely
concerened about their babies welfare.
too many mom's are not concerened.
anyway....don't worry too much, especially if he is sick.
after all you don't feel like eating when you are sick.
my daughter is 18 now, but I remember she was (and still is) a very finiky eater.
her pediatrician told me that as ling as she was thriving and had a good color . not too worry about what she ate.
she is a beautiful young lady now with no health problems.
just still very picky on her food.
lots of juice and keep trying new foods.
good luck.

Maybe you can make his stage 2/3 food like a little more solid? So that it isn't too hard for him to eat.
