I have it sitting about 6 feet away and to the side of my gas fireplace. I was wondering if the wood would warp from the heat? But remember ts not directly infront of the fireplace, its 6 feet to the side of it on an angle.

It's not a good idea to keep the acoustic guitar stored where it will be exposed to heat and excessive dryness, both conditions you're exposing your guitar to by keeping it near the fire. If you want to extend the life of your guitar, take a ziplock bag, punch some holes in it, and put a wet (but not dripping) sponge into the bag, and place it inside the guitar case with the perforations facing up.

I play the violin, and since it's made of wood, it can warp from being left outside of it's case in cold, dry weather. I don't know about heat, but your guitar should be okay if it's 6 feet away from the fireplace

I would not keep it there if I were you. Even if not directly exposed to the radiant heat, the dryer air around your instrument may well damage the delicate wood structure.
Get a hard-shell case for your guitar and store it there according to manufacturer's directions when not in use.

It all depends on the type of wood. My Dad has a £1,500 guitar and he keeps it near the fire. Its never got warped, but to be safe, i would advise you move it.

To be safe, you should move it. Small amounts of heat may have drastic effects. Guitars are very sensitive instruments, and should be treated carefully.
