Packaging Graphics on 60 Delta Drive, Pawtucket RI decided that they will close their doors on December 31...I don't think is legal to send us (the employee) home without pay if they decided on their own to close for that day. Neither should I take time off my vacation hours like they suggested.....Thanks

What they are doing is completely legal. You have no recourse.

Your out of luck. Unless you have a contract (personal or union type) they can close when they want. Where I live in Arkansas, companies close for extra days during the holidays and you are required to use your personal and vacation days to make up for it. If you have any of this type time-off available, you cannot even apply for unemployment. Looks like you either accept it or find another employer.

So they closed for the New Year holiday. They are not required to pay you. Paid holidays are not mandatory. It is up to the company to decide if they want to offer their employees the benefit of paid holidays.

It is there company if you disagree then start your own company and pay your own employees for not working on certain days you shut the door.

they don't have to pay you.that's why they provide vacation days. it's not fair.you shouldn't have to. that's business. at least they don't outsource to another country. lost two jobs that way

Well they could fire you and you would get nothing from now on. How does that sound? yeah it sucks, but you have choices, I would look for another job.
