First convert to an improper fraction:

5 2/5 = 5 + 2/5 = 25/5 + 2/5 = 27/5

The reciprocal is just the fraction turned upside down, 5/27.

First 5 2/5 = 27/5.
So, reciprocal is 1/(27/5) = 5/27.

The reciprical of a fraction is the fraction we get if we flip it upside down. But 5 2/5 isnt easy to flip, its not a fraction! So we must convert it into an improper fraction (your teacher might call it something else). 5 2/5 is the same as 5 wholes and 2 fifths.
How many fifths in one whole? Why 5 of course. so how many fifths in 5 wholes? Well 5 * 5 is 25. So we have 25/5 + 2/5 which is 27/5. Now we have a fraction! And do find its reciprical all we have to do is flip it, so our answer is 5/27

Since a lot of people already used the most efficient method, I'll present an inefficient method, for presentation purposes.

5 2/5 can also be represented as 5 + (2/5).

The reciprocal of any number is one over it. All we have to do is solve this expression:

1 / [ 5 + (2/5) ]

This is a complex fraction (fraction within fraction). Multiply top and bottom by 5 to get rid of all fractions.

5 / [ 25 + 2 ]

Which simplifies as

5/27

As inefficient as this is, it is helpful in learning complex fractions in later math if this method is understood.

look at the 5 first. 5 is the same thing as 25/5.

Add the 2/5 part and you have 27/5.

The reciprocal is 1/(267/5) which, when you multiply by 5/5 yields 5/27.

5 2/5
now, it is mixed fraction so we have to convert into improper fraction
i.e.5X5 from down=25 and down to up 25+2=27
therefore=27/5
the reciprocal = 5/27 i.e.from improper v changed into proper fraction
