You need Itunes.

Plug your Ipod into your usb connector and let it load. It will show on your itunes that you have a device in.

Import the songs from your computer onto your Itunes into a new playlist.

Keeping your new playlist open, select the songs that you are wanting onto your ipod and drag and drop onto the left hand side where it says your ipods name. And then just let it import the track.

Remove the ipod safely and its done.

You have to have iTunes. I am going to assume you are running on a Microsoft computer, not an Apple. Open up iTunes. You do not have to have your iPod connected at first. Click, "File" then locate, "Import Folder". Click on this. It will open up a folder explorer. Locate the folder you are looking for and click "Import." (It may say "Ok"). iTunes will let you know if you need to convert the files from AAC to mp4. Click yes/okay. Wait a minute for the files to convert, and once they are done converting, connect your iPod. You can sync from there. Hope this helps.

If you know where the files are then go to your iTunes player.

Click the drop down menu File-> Import -> Select song (by holding Shift or CTRL as you click you can select multiple files)

Or under the same File menu go to Scan for Music

Once the files are added to your library you simply drag and drop them onto your iPod icon

make sure your ipod is plugged into a USB port, and then open up itunes. You should see your ipod icon on the side bar of the program. Import your music into Itunes (if you haven't yet) and just drag and drop your music onto the icon. :-)
