well, it's cute when they are kids but as grown ups on a job application it is no longer cute. i think people really do need to think about the names that they choose for their kids. it could prevent them from getting into a position that they want. my friend is african american and she made up names for her kids. she kicks herself everyday because when that job application comes across someones desk they automatically assume that they are african american and if that person is really racist, her children will not even be considered. she thanks her lucky stars that her mom named her julie and not a made up name. no one knows that she is black before the interview so she actually has a fighting chance. i'm not saying name your kids bob and sue but be reasonable about it, i mean come on...... precious?!

Maybe the parents had really common names and grew up being one of five Billy's in the classroom and wanted their child to have their own identity.
But still, names like Peaches and Precious are ridiculous! There are good, more realistic names that are also unique.

Yeah. I agree. Those parents must have been high on drugs when they named their kids. Peaches and Precious sound like Stripper names. I think the parents should use their brains when they pick names. What idiot would name their son Pilot Inspektor or their daughter Moxie Crimefighter?! (rhetorical question)

I agree 100% with you. When your child is 25 and is a lawyer (just saying) it's not going to sound professional calling Patients up to the stand. People have to think ahead maybe Patients is cute for a baby, but when your a 35 year old mother and people are call you patients. Its kind of weird. (I used the name Patients because I know someone with this name). I am very thankful my parents though ahead and my name is Katherine Mary. Katie when I was younger and now people call me Kate or Katherine. Same with my brother he is David William. Professional and not all cutesy.

There is a fine line, my partner and I love unusual names, but they are real names not made up names and certainly not random words or fruits, a lot of people will hate the names we like and probably call us cruel, back in the day my name was fairly unusual and I loved being the only one, I hope my children feel the same. We also use the 'correct' spellings because that trend of trying to be different with a wacky spelling is just awful.

I totally agree... I dont think some parents think about thier child being an adult and living with the "unique" "original" name that they have selected.
I have taught school for several years and here are some of the Goofy names i have seen.. and i think.. " you poor child"
Top 3 horrible names:
#1 ~ Passion Peachy (first and last name) ~ I swear that was her real name
#2 ~ Female (pronounced ~ Fe - Mal - ee) first name
#3 ~ Omar or Griselda... they are just not attractive names.

I know. I would hate to be 17 and named Angel. Or Princess or even Apple or Hortense. I dont like boring named like Bill and Jenny though either. Maybe a name like Jessica, Alicia, Chris, and Joey. Those are normal but nice names =)

Maybe they think it is funny??? It is just another thing for those kids to hate their parents about when they are teenagers! I honestly wonder if we will have a ton of kids getting their names changed in 18 years!

I agree they should consider what the kid will go through at school with name calling and all that! I do like unique names but something like "Apple" is just ridiculous!
I don't like boring names either though
