I did not step on a rat. I stepped on a seven feet snake, called Ashodia,by mistake. The snake was so much scared that it ran away some 100 meters in 6/7 seconds.I remained stunned for about 10 minutes.I could not forget this incident in last 40 years.

No, I'm always barefoot and I've stepped on snails and such (by accident -I don't kill anything apart from ticks, mosquito's and my cats' fleas on purpose). But never on a live rat or mouse, don't think I could even if I tried, they're much too fast! I've tried to catch mice often enough -no rats here fortunately, but my cat brings in live mice to watch me chase them back out :-) -and they're hard enough to catch with my hands, let alone hit them trying to step on 'm.

Awsome.

My father had a midlife crisis and decided to raise rats for food for snakes, lizards, etc, for the labs in the area, zoos, etc, and I had to help.

Well, dead orders required us to gas them. Gross. Totally. Really did not like it. Did it once and did it wrong and never did it again. But once when we were sorting the dead rats I found on that was alive and my dad told me to just break it's neck. I couldn't and made it my pet.
