He has the right to condemn, not blame in public.

The batsmen definitely deserve such admonishment. It is too well known.
If this is so,he must get the right team for the next test.

The overwhelming response defends Kumble.
My point is his reasons are right but not the occasion. So I admit.

Of course he's right!!
I mean, I am not a big supporter of either cricket or any player(except Sachin).
But its clear that bowlers delivered in both the Australian innings, but the batsmen went from bad(in the 1st innings) to worse(in the 2nd innings).
Of course, Captain has to claim the collective responsibility,
but I think that he has led the team right from the frontline.
Our batsmen ought to do better!!

Yes he is right IMO. Every captain has to answer to the media
and when he is asked about the failure, it is clear that the batsmen failed India. India clearly do not have the capability
to restrict Aussie batsmen to slow down scoring even though
Kumble and Zaheer bowled well in both the innings.
Indian batsman should rotate strike by taking singles and that
puts pressures on the bowlers. A good and famous batsman
will bat under any conditions and rotate strike. That is how
Aussie batsmen did in all their 15 consecutive wins.
Collectively they did not field well nor did they bat well. Knowing that Indian bowlers do not have the killer instinct
they did pretty well to contain Aussie to under 400.
Hope the Indian players and mgmt realize and change it
soon in the next test or as I have said all along it will be a
white wash....

Kumble is right.Batsmen didnt apply at all in both innings, there is nothing wrong in critisizing in public because everybody knows what went wrong.I think not even single batsmen lived to the expectaton.Kumble did his best but when you have such irresponible team members you cant expect a captain to win on his own.Thanks.

There is nothing wrong in admitting the fact as the test was lost due to collective batting failure. If a team consisting of strong batting line up could not even score 250 runs in any innings what else can be said.

Skipper is very right as all the so called youngsters have failed to deliver in both innings ,some serious changes should be made for the 2nd test, also two left arm fast bowlers in playing 11 makes the attack batsmen friendly.

even Sunil Gavaskar had a good dig at the batsmen..i was listening to him speaking during cricket break yesterday..
i think Anil did his best as a new captain.he defiantly pulled his weight in the team..Sunil was particularly pointing finger at Gangully..he said he has lost his spark and should'nt be in the team..so it's not just Kumble who has said strong words against the team..i would respect everything Sunil had to say,and yesterday he had some pretty strong words to say about his own team...

Nothing wrong in it.
And everyone knows about it. We all know what happened. Batsmen should now wake-up & start playing shots like Saurav Ganguly instead of 'Crawling'
Defensive batsmen are killing our team.
40 runs in 30 overs.
It was bad batting. Australian bowling was good but not that damn good.
Dravid made batting look so difficult.

Yes he is right. If the Indian batsmen don't play, how can he take their blame? They played trash and I dont think he is wrong in criticizing the batsmen in public. Shame on you Indian batsmen. You ppl have let us down terribly

he didn't blame the batsmen
he said he doesn't like to give reasons
for defeat
he said may be bcoz there was only one practice match, so we lost batsmen take time to adjust to the changing conditions
they were short of one practice match

Of course yeah, what Kumbles has said is correct...
The Indian bowlers absouloutely did well, they took 10 wickets in the first Innings, & 7 wickets in the second innings.
Note: Even the Lankans couldnt do this...
Look at the score card
http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/ausvind/engine/current/match/291351.html
It clearly shows that the batsman's failed to perform well...
