Any of the older Hotels on Fremont Street, downtown....Four Queens, Fitzgeralds, The Plaza etc...They are not fancy, but you are close to a numberof Casinos and I feel safe walking by myself even at 3am...the best part is that no matter what casino I am playing in, I can be back at my room and asleep in 10 to 15 minutes....always go with my husband and friends and family, but we eat together and play separately! we have a great time! anyway, for the amount of $$ you save on a room, you can taxi to the strip and back~

Only because it is close to my house.
I love the Fiesta a Stations Casino in Henderson on 215.
It is small and big as well. They really have a great buffet. I have a palyer's card so it is like $8 for dinner... And $2 for a beer.
I just like it. Common folks there. No celebs or pin heads.

Venetian and Luxor, both out of the ordinary and close to other properties Venetian has in indoors and outside canals you can ride and a nice shopping mall to wander, plus the inside entrance cannot be missed. Luxor is the pyramid with unusual rooms and a great night club

My vote is for the Golden Nugget
p.s. you can take a limmo(usually $15) for the same amount as a cab to the new strip for sight seeing
