depends on why I'm evacuating...but I always have a "bug out bag" readyto go with food and essential supplies for at least three days living away from home.
I have:
2 backpacks with food and water for 3 people for 3 days
Something to make a fire
An extra change of clothes for 3 people
$100 cash
First Aid kit
Battery powered radio and flashlights
A firearm with ample supply of ammunition
Ponchos for wet weather
GPS system with batteries
Compass and maps of the surrounding area

A whole building burned down in my apartment complex the Monday after Thanksgiving and they evacuated all 100 of the rest of the units. Cat/dog/me, then my purse and a coat.

My emergency bag, my kids emergancy bags, and the animals emergency bags (all of which are already packed) and the bag of family photos and small heirlooms.
I'm a trained search and rescue first responder. I know how to evacuate someone else in two minutes, so this is old hat to me.

My laptop, important house papers and as much clothing and shoes as I could carry out in one trip.
