The basic question is ...How the life-forms on Earth evolve? Probably the answer is...the changes in the genetic materials... which is being passed on to next generations for the past several millions of generations. These changes have occurred in micro-organisms, plants, animals (land and sea). Available fossils tell the story.
It is not yet known, how this genetic material arrived on this planet Earth.
If there were insects and reptiles and no humans on this Planet earth, millions of earth-years back, then it is logical to think that, humans must have evolved from these life-forms.
Is it not the evolution of animals, all the way to humans?

Every animal evolved to be successful in it's own environment and are still evolving as that environment changes. Human beings have become super succesful on earth only for the past 5000 years or so. That is a very short time in Earth's history.Who's to say that other animals may not evolve into something that will outcompete humans and start reigning on the planet? Maybe they are already evolving to that end.

Many species have evolved even faster than human beings because at the cellular level they are much less complex. For example, birds in the Galapagos Islands are hundreds of years further in their evolution to become the fittest of their species.

Human beings are also evolving to become a more fitter species. An example are vestigial organs such as the appendix. When human beings relied more on plants for digestion, the appendix was an important part of the digestion process. However, we are now omnivores and the appendix is no longer needed and has lost its purpose.

I think the core of your question is why are humans so much more intelligent than other species. Why are we building high-rises and traveling into space, right? If this is your point, then it belongs in a less scientific category and should be placed in religion / spirituality.

** Paul (a handyman) vs Emerson (a Med Student). Your resources for supporting your argument are weak and without substance. Your article suggests that it is "believed" - which means without evidence. Your other links from free hosting companies also have no warrant. I suggest you practice evidence-based discussion prior to making yourself look like someone who is pushing creationism (Oops!). Start your research with the New England Journal of Medicine, then we can chat.

I think animals are also evolved just like humans did ,its just they evlved in a different branch in the evolution tree. The only thing is that they are not as evolved as humans.Animals like crocs evolved from the prehistoric super croc which was like 30fet long, this is a kind of adaptation also as this organism evolved according to its surroundings and also because of the size of the prey they feed on.
Humans evolved from early man who had a very sophisicated brain compared to other animals but didnt know how 2 use it practically.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what this question is asking. Are you asking why didn't other animals change over time like humans have? Or are you asking why didn't other animals evolve to be human-like?

The proper question would be, why did animals evolve like other humans!

Evolution is the mechanism by which small groups of isolated organisms "breed out" traits with a negative impact on their survival and "breed in" traits that give them a survival advantage. Since different organisms occupy different "niches", it only makes sense they would diversify and come to resemble one another less & less.

But your question is unclear: did uou think that a natural product of evolution would be that EVERYTHING would "evolve" into humans? Or are you of the (mistaken) view that the other organisms are not evolving?

e-mail me if you have specific questions (unless you are just trolling)...the slow drift of Americans away from "common sense" towards accepting a supernatural or magical explanation for the way things are is REALLY beginning to frighten me!

Emerson should look up current knowledge on organs like the appendix and do some research before explaining that they are "vestigial" and useless to us....we know now that the appendix is vital in "rebooting" the digestive tract in case the bacteria in the tract are lost or die.

This misconception of evolution...

Emerson, your answer got there before mine - which was very similar. Hat's off to you! :-)
