I moved to another state 4 years ago and the images of my old house has patio furniture that i got rid of two years before i moved. So the image is at least 6 years old.

I can see my car on Google Earth, and I sold it 2 years ago. That doesn't mean that all of the images are that old - they are updated frequently, i believe.

The images of my home are at least 5 years old. The show a building that has not been here for at least that long.

Google guarantees them to be no longer than 3 years old. They get new images as soon as they possibly can.

It might vary, but our area is at least two years old, a shop which was burnt down, still appears to be there.
I imagine it will get updated bit by bit.
